What is Mental Health?

Mental Health is an illness that can affect a persons thinking, mood or behavior.

Types of Mental Health:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety Problems
  • Phobias
  • Eating Problems
  • Schizophrenia
  • Personality disorders

Mental Health is a big issue. Many people don’t like talking about this topic. People who are diagnosed with this illness face the challenge to seek professional help. Some small towns don’t have the same resources as others.

Many mental illnesses can lead to suicide. People who are affected by mental health are young children, teenagers and adults. Parents should educate their children about their emotional well-being. So, when they get older they know where to get help. If physical health is a requirement for school, then mental health should be the same.

Issues:

  • The cost of treatment
  • The location where services are located
  • Stigma
  • Family might think a person diagnosed with a mental health illness is “crazy”
  • Suicide rates keep increasing
